The ancient art of wire wrapping dates back to the Sumerian Dynasty of 2000 years BC and is often found in Roman jewelry around the time of Christ. This practice of creating wire wrapped jewelry employed the use of fine metal filament that was bent, looped and tied to create jewelry pieces with strong, secure connections long before the use of solder became commonplace.
Today, the artisans of Spanish Colonial Treasures use this technique to connect the chains, clasps and bezels for the “Hand Assembled” jewelry line featured here. Only Sterling Silver and 14/20 Gold Filled wire is used in our wire wrapped jewelry.
